The word "abomination" is a strong word. It comes from the Hebrew root word "ebom", which means "to pollute or defile." The people of Israel were commanded to wear garments that were clean, pure, and untainted by other people's dirt. They were not to wear garments made by men, nor did they wear the garments of the opposite sex. When a man would put on a woman's garment, he was breaking this law.

The world has changed since the time these words were written, but the idea is still very much alive. This idea is so important because so often our morality is corrupted by the influence of other people's nakedness. As followers of Christ, we are to be pure in heart and body, which means that other people's bodies are not for us to look at or even think about.

If you are tempted to look at someone else's body, remember that God has given us all bodies for our own purposes.
